Badger Philatelics Ltd. is a cover-producing company formed in the latter stages of 2010.
I’ve collected stamps since my childhood. Of course at different stages in my life there have been more pressing distractions, but the stamps have been a constant presence.
So, why start producing covers and why the company name? I decided to produce my own covers because I felt I could create something a little different to add to what’s already available and develop my own signature style. The company name is derived from the badgers that regularly visit our garden and allow us to feed them – one eats directly out of my hand – I am privileged he allows me to do so.
For me personally the whole point of a cover is to showcase and highlight the stamps and postmark(s) - as opposed to trying to fit the stamps and postmark(s) around the cover design.
So, when deciding to start this venture, I came up with the following principles to guide us:
1: We will produce limited numbers of our own covers, both generic and event specific, for selected Great Britain (GB) commemorative occasions and new stamp issues.
2: Each cover that we produce must have an informative filler card.
3: All of our covers will be individually numbered and coded – so you know exactly how many have been produced.
4: The web site and any marketing literature will always be honest and informative so that customers can make informed choices and decisions
5: We will focus on simplicity of design and layout – our covers will always seek to showcase the stamps and postmark(s).
THE TEAM
Aside from myself - Ian, I'm assisted by my partner Alison who helps in whatever way she can and by a work colleague (Yes! we all have "day" jobs!) Kes Williams who takes my ideas and ramblings and turns them, along with hers input, into the designs of our covers.
Feedback and constructive comments are always appreciated, so please feel free to E-mail us: info@badgercovers.co.uk or write to us at: Badger Philatelics Ltd, 57 Saxonhurst Road, Northbourne, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH10 6JD
