Last Day of Use - Non-Barcoded Machin

Non-Barcoded Machin

The move to barcoded stamps was first announced by Royal Mail on February 1, 2022 - giving customers time to use up their old-style stamps, the non-barcoded Definitive stamps were initially to be phased out but remain usable until 31 January 2023.

However, in November 2022 as a result of 'feedback' from customers Royal Mail announced that non-barcoded definitive stamps would remain usable until 31 July 2023. Non-barcoded Machin stamps used after this date would no longer be valid and be liable to a surcharge if used on mail.

The move is part of Royal Mail's extensive and ongoing modernisation drive. Royal Mail says the new barcoded stamps will pave the way for new and exciting customer services as well as improved security.
