Music Giants XI: AC/DC

Music Giants XI: AC/DC

In 1973, Angus and Malcolm Young formed AC/DC in Sydney Australia. Thanks to their high energy live performances and their Blues based musical roots the band became established favourites by the mid 1970's in Australia.

The band relocated to London in 1976 and stabilised it's line up - the Young's along with Bon Scott on vocals, Phil Rudd on drums and Cliff Williams on bass. The albums 'Let there be Rock' (1977) established their success in the UK, followed by 'Highway to Hell (1979) established them internationally.

Brian Johnson took over vocals after the alcohol related death of Bon Scott in 1980. The album 'Back in Black' released the same year sold in excess of 10 million copies in the US alone. Their 1981 album 'For those about to rock' also sold in excess of a million copies.

'The Razor's Edge' album (1990) featured the hit singles 'Thunderstruck' (as featured in the recent SAS Rogue Heroes TV show) and 'Moneytalks'.

AC/DC continue to rock!
